Doug Berndt ARPS EFIAP
A physics graduate who retired from a career in Defence and Aerospace that took me round the world, my biggest regret being that I rarely carried a camera with me!
Following retirement,  I found more time for my photographic passion that had been with me since boyhood.
I returned to Edinburgh Photographic Society in 2012 having been a member transiently in the mid 1980's before work and family got in the way.
Member and former Trustee of Edinburgh Photographic Society (President Sep 2018 - Aug 2020)
Chairman of the highly regarded Edinburgh International Exhibitions of Photography 2022, 2023 and 2024.
Chairman and Organiser of EPS First Digital International 2021 and Third EPS Digital International 2024.
Currently Incoming Exhibitions Organiser. (EPS is delighted to host several RPS SIG Exhibitions each year).
I joined the Royal Photographic Society in 2012, initially to see if I could meet their standards. The Scotland region was very active and I met several like-minded photographers and friends through that. I was Edinburgh Rep for the RPS Scotland Region and am former Organiser of the RPS Digital Imaging Group Scotland Centre. Awarded ARPS in September 2013 for a print panel in the Contemporary category (previously LRPS in November 2012).
Received EFIAP for International Salon Awards and Acceptances in April 2018 (previously AFIAP in March 2017).
Scottish Photographic Federation accredited judge (Nov 2016- Apr 2024).
I enjoy the experiences that my photography brings me. Favourite genres get me out and about and include Nature; Landscape; Travel; Street and Images that tell a story. I’m very partial to a good Mono!
I've been taking pictures for years - photography gets me out and about - I hope you enjoy some of my images!
